Email Etiquette

Email is the one of the main segways in which we use to communicate with whoever we desire. It is an easy, quick, and simple way to reach out to someone or to send a message to numerous people. It is extremely relevant in our world today, and that is why we need to know the proper ways to utilize it and how it works.
People don't realize how much we rely on email. Think about how much you use email. Probably every day or close to it. It is an important tool not just for students and teachers, but also everyone else in the world. Messages are sent and received all over the world via email. Some between friends and some between complete strangers. I think that etiquette in email is definitely something that should be recognized and used. I do not believe it is an antiquated ideal at all. Even though it may be old-fashioned, it can and still should apply to everyone using email. We need to be educated on the proper usage of politeness and etiquette throughout email so that our messages are received with their proper meaning.
It is true that email is so fast-paced, but that does not mean that we should ignore basic politeness skills. The message that you send someone could be completely misunderstood than what your intent was. For example, if a student was in a hurry and replied quickly back to an email that a professor sent, that professor may think that the student was being rude or unpolite, even though that was not the student's intent. Email etiquette is something that should be used correctly, because it is something can be greatly valued and appreciated by others.
"It's hard to oversee the rush of e-mails that rocket in and out of your shop. Yet one wrong, ill-thought-out message is all it takes. Hit "send" and — poof. Irretrievable. Unless you clearly communicate standards and monitor your company's e-mail, there's a good chance e-mail miscues will happen — and come back to bite you." (Krotz) I feel that this quote sums up the main idea behind email etiquette. Whether you are running a business or not, you should still apply the same rules to everyday usage.

  1. I agree with you blog.We should use etiquette in e-mails just as we use etiquette in letters.Just because e-mail responses are faster, it does not mean that we should skip over reading through our e-mail to make sure our message comes across the way we want it to.

  2. It is a very important part of everyday life, especially for college students! I do think that e-mail is extremely faster but the speed affects sometimes how we say things, forgetting a little etiquette. As long as we do not get to informal with e-mailing, I think it is a great thing.
