Technology
has brought forth a major shift in the way we communicate day to day. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, EHarmony are
just a few internet sites that make communication impersonal. Come to think of it, Do you really even know
who your friends are on Facebook or Twitter?
Do you have friends on social networks that you have never met in
person? If you answered no to these
questions you are probably a victim of technology making communication
impersonal.
There are great pros and cons of
impersonal communication. Technology
helps businesses and workplaces every day to communicate with other organizations
or other branches in order to get tasks done to increase production. Impersonal communication can be easily tolerated
in the business world because everyone is working together in order to complete
tasks. Impersonal communication is very
time productive for organizations because one email, phone call or Skype
session can easily solve a problem, instead of having to fly a representative
across the country in order to solve a problem.
Impersonal technology is a plus for the business world because it saves
time and money and ups production numbers.
Impersonal communication can also be
a downfall because of the dangers of online predators in our generation. Many young children are acquiring Facebook which
in itself can be dangerous, but in our generation there are many scary issues
with predators and stalkers on the internet.
Impersonal communication can be very dangerous if you do not know your
friends on Facebook or if you are constantly tweeting your location on
Twitter. Online predators are very
dangerous and can happen to anyone because of impersonal communication and not
being cautious online.
Impersonal communication can be very
helpful and save time and money, but on the other hand it can become very
dangerous. With cautious behavior online,
impersonal communication is a good aspect to technology as long as it is used
wisely.

Great Blog! When I was reading about technology and business it got me thinking. You said that skype, e-mail, or phone calls make communicating more easy, which I agree with, but what does this do to our professionalism aspect in business? In a skype conversation, as long as the part in the video looks good, the other person has no idea you might be wearing pajama pants or just in your underwear. Compared to flying a representative out to another company, and that representative has to make themselves fully presentable down to the tee. Even conversation has to be almost memorized if that representative goes in person. With skype or a phone call, the representative can have notes or everything they want to say in front of them without that person knowing. This is kind of a detour of your blog, but I just thought it was something to think about!
