Tupac Resurrection

"Last Sunday, attendees of the 2012 Coachella music festival were shocked when infamous rapper, Tupac Shakur, took the stage in the form of a hologram to give a live performance - quite a feat, considering the man has been dead for over 15 years. Fans gawked and cheered as the incredibly realistic-looking "hologram" moved around the stage, called out to the audience, and even performed a song alongside his old friend, Snoop Dogg, before disappearing in a burst of light."

Imagine all of the possibilities holograms can have for music. People can see their favorite signers and rappers that have passed. The example above, of Tupac Shakur, is only the beginning. This was made real by high definition projections with the company AV Concepts. This uncompressed video captured Tupac's athletic stature, and even his mannerisms. AV Concepts spoke to people who knew Shakur, and they worked vigourously to capture his essence. At the concert, people were dumbfounded at how real the hologram looked. This technology is so real, and so advanced, that it seemed as if he was right in front of them in the flesh.

Because of this huge advancement in technology, people are already asking AC Concepts to try and "resurrect" The Beatles. This small company got a huge break with the Coachella festival. They are now receiving more deals than they ever had before. This new technology can save a lot of money. The cost of the technology was about $400,000, which is very affordable compared to getting a real performer across the world. The travel and charges made by the artists alone are way above this price. I look forward to seeing how this technology will be utilized now that it has broken new ground.

  1. One of my friends had posted this video on facebook, and I hadn't read the background on the video, and was like oh this is cool, it's this guy singing, and I didn't watch the end. Then I saw your blog, and watched the video again from beginning to end. This is amazing and kind of scary in my opinion. If AV Concept continues to make these realistic holograms, will any performer be needed anymore? Why should people have to hire the actual singers when they can buy their hologram for cheaper? Like you I will be interested in seeing where this technology will take us and what the reaction of people will be. The concept of bring back singers from the dead, is an incredible concept but then what happens to the rest of the world? It will be interesting if wealthier families could use AV Concepts to bring back those loved ones from the dead for one last time. What effect will it have on the world?

  2. My first thought is how cool is that for people who were actually there? Some of those people might have thought it was really tupac coming back form the dead or been like what is going on? It's kinda freaky. But taking someone who is dead and putting words and motions into their holograms is risky because it's not actually them. I would like to see the Gorillaz perform live with holograms.
