“Back when I was a kid
I played outside until dinner, we left the doors unlocked at night and listened
to the news on a radio” is a classic quote my father says, and until this class
I just thought it was another “old person quote” said by my parents, but now
that I look at how technology changed us as a community I begin to rethink my
reasoning about how this technology generation has completely changed the way
of life as we know it. Technology could
someday take over our lives or completely change society.
In one of my other classes at Juniata College,
I watched a video on technology about how by 2020 computers will be smarter
than the average man. This statistic
made me really stop and think. This just
truly shows how technology can make tasks very easy but also can be extremely
dangerous in the long run.
If
you truly think deeply into the subject of technology such as medical
discoveries, and technology making traveling a simple task it is a truly mind
boggling subject. Back in the 1700’s no
one ever thought you would be able to get in a large bus and fly through the
air in a matter of hours to cross the country or even the world. Medical technology also amazes me. Who would have ever though we could take the
heart from one person and put it in another person’s body? Technology also has some very strange
inventions. No one would have ever
thought we would lie in a large lighted tunnel to darken our skin or put
silicone in a woman’s breasts to make them larger. Some of these technologies are helpful but
some of them are taken way to far.
Technology
is a very good thing for health, travel, making tasks easier and so many other
things, but there is also a point where technology goes too far. Technology is slowly gaining more attention and
if we don’t contain this movement in society soon, it could get out of control,
or even take over society as a whole.

I feel that you used a good opening statement with a persional story about your father's quote. I feel that this make people want to read more about what you have written . I agree completely with the fact that technology has really helped our lives. This is especally true in the medical field with organ transplants and in the travel industry with airplanes. I only question is how do you think technology will take over the the society and is there anything we can do to stop it? Overall i really liked it!
